Friends no one want to fail. Especially a job aspirant when the stakes are so high the deputy prime minister of india is a member of union council of ministers he  also holds the portfolio of home minister or finance minister. It is not a constitutional office in parliamentry system of govt the prime minister is the first among equals in cabinet the position of Dty. pm is to strength the coaliation govt also takes the position of pm if necessary.

 The office is occupied for 1st time by vallabhai patel the 6 and last dty pm was LK Advani in 2004 in Vajpayee govt. The current govt has no Dty prime minister

  History

The first dty pm was vallabhai patel was also the home minister in nehru ministry  The post was vacant after death of patel and the 6th Dty pm was LK Advani in2002 to 2004 The post has been vacant since 2004

          The post of deputy prime minister in India is not constitutional that is it is a conventional position there is any where in the constitution or any other act is saying about the post of deputy prime minister. But the deputy prime minister carries the position in means of table of precedence. 

                                                Deputy prime minister occupies the position of prime minister only when the office is vacant for certain reasons. In other cases he has s an equal status of cabinet minister.

                   Article 77 of Indian constitution describes about the duties of Prime minister,It shall be duty of prime minister to communicate to the president all decisions of the council of ministers relating to the administration of the affairs of the union and proposals for legislation.

                                   To furnish such information relating to administration of the union and administration of the proposals that president may recall for; and if the president may requires to submit for the consideration the council of the ministers may matter on which a decision may taken by the minister  but which has not been considered by the council.

                                         On some occasions suggestions has been made by ruling party members to make the post permanent, but no result till now. The same situation is happening in case of deputy chief minister in state.
